About

Illuminating Architecture. Respecting Heritage.

HTM Lighting is a specialist architectural lighting company providing exterior lighting solutions for listed, historic and distinctive buildings across the UK.

We believe exceptional architecture deserves to be appreciated after dark. Through considered lighting design, professional installation and ongoing maintenance, we create solutions that reveal the character, craftsmanship and architectural detail of remarkable buildings.

Born from a Passion for Light

HTM Lighting was founded by Russell King from a longstanding passion for lighting, architecture and the ability of carefully designed illumination to completely transform the way a building is experienced.

With more than 25 years of experience in the property management systems industry, Russell brings extensive technical and practical knowledge to HTM Lighting. That experience provides the foundation for a company focused not simply on supplying luminaires, but on delivering considered, dependable lighting solutions from initial concept through to long-term operation.

HTM Lighting brings together this experience with a particular interest in heritage architecture and the unique challenges involved in introducing modern technology to historic environments.

Specialists in Heritage and Listed Buildings

Working with a listed or historic building demands a different approach.

Every property has its own architectural character, materials, surroundings and significance. A successful lighting scheme should respect these qualities rather than overwhelm them.

We consider how light interacts with the architecture itself, from façades, towers and rooflines to stonework, columns, arches and other defining details. Luminaire positioning, beam angle, intensity, colour temperature, controls and the visual impact of equipment during daylight hours all form part of the design process.

From Concept to Completion

HTM Lighting provides a complete architectural lighting service, supporting projects throughout their lifecycle.

Design
We develop lighting solutions around the individual architecture and objectives of each project, considering both the desired nighttime appearance and the practical requirements of the installation.

Installation
Our lighting schemes are professionally installed with careful consideration given to the building, its surroundings and the discreet integration of lighting equipment and associated systems.

Maintenance
A successful architectural lighting installation should continue performing for years to come. We provide ongoing maintenance, fault finding and support to help protect the performance and appearance of the system throughout its working life.

This end-to-end approach means the original design intent can remain at the heart of the project from the first conversation through to installation and beyond.

Professional Lighting Technology

The quality of an architectural lighting scheme depends on both its design and the technology used to deliver it.

HTM Lighting works closely with Italian architectural lighting manufacturer Studio Due, providing access to professional exterior lighting technology developed for demanding architectural applications.

Studio Due products have been used to illuminate prominent landmarks and architectural sites around the world, including the Colosseum in Rome, The Kelpies in Scotland and the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.

For HTM Lighting, this provides a versatile range of professional lighting solutions capable of meeting the very different requirements presented by heritage and architectural projects.

Considered by Design

No two buildings are the same, and we don’t believe their lighting should be either.

Our approach begins by understanding the property: its architecture, its setting and what the client wants to achieve. From subtle illumination that reveals historic stonework to more dynamic schemes capable of transforming a landmark for an event or occasion, the solution is developed around the building rather than imposed upon it.

The result should feel intentional, balanced and appropriate, creating impact after dark while remaining respectful of the architecture it was designed to illuminate.
